If you recently immigrated to the United States, if you are the child of immigrant parents, if you ever welcomed an immigrant into your community, we’d love to include your story. It’s easy. Here’s how:

• YOU CAN INTERVIEW SOMEONE who immigrated to this country – a friend, a parent, a coworker – and ask them about their experience. When did they first arrive? What were their first memories of the U.S.? Did anyone welcome them? What was that person like? How did that person have an impact on their life? What would they say to that person if they were to see them today?

• YOU CAN TELL YOUR OWN STORY. Think of a person who you welcomed or welcomed you. How did you meet them? Why were you compelled to help them or how did they help you? How did that experience change you? What would you say to that person if you were to see them today?

• YOU CAN SUBMIT IN ANY FORMAT – audio, text, video, photo – using the form below.

VIDEO: Most laptops these days have a webcam with a record function, so you can search for the webcam function and record straight from your computer. First, select “Submit a Video” from the top of the submissions box. Then, you’ll need to copy and paste the embed code into the box. If your video is on YouTube, Vimeo, or any other video platform, simply select the video you want to share and look for the “embed” button below or next to the frame and click on it. The code that appears is the one you will want to share with us below.

TEXT: You can also submit a written story. Simply select “Submit a Text Post” from the top of the submissions box and then copy and paste your text into the box. Consider also submitting a photo or even a drawing to accompany your story!

AUDIO: Audio recordings are easy to do. Share a recording from your laptop or you can even share one directly from your phone! Select “Submit a Photo” from the top of the submissions box and then hit “browse” to find your audio file.

Whatever format you choose, the form below makes it easy!

• KEEP IT SHORT AND SWEET. Vivid details are great, but try to keep audio and video under five minutes and text under 200 words. Try to keep all photos and images around 640 x 480 in size in order to preserve quality.

• CREDIT THE SOURCE. If your submission isn’t originally yours, credit the source by linking to the page you got it from or mentioning the name of the original writer/producer/photographer.
